QR codes are safe when used properly if and only if:

Scan from reputable source.

Use platform support two-layer security, encryption SSL/HTTPS.

Check the link before accessing, especially with public QR code.

Scan with built-in Camera
Open the Camera app, aim at the QR code, and tap the notification that appears. If it doesn't work, check your settings and enable QR scanning.

Use the built-in Scanner

Scan with Google Lens (Android)

Use Third Party Applications
If your device doesn't have a scanner, download an app like: iCheck Scan, open and scan the QR code.

On Android, open the photo with Google Photos and select “Google Lens”. On iOS, use the app Note or third-party tools.
